So whats the deal?
Simple. If you're here you probably love live music and would love to get your hands on some live recordings of epic shows. Audio, video, dowloading, streaming, we've got it all. The point is, people who post here MUST include links to what they are posting about. Want to talk about a particularly good show? Cool special guest? Insane jam? We would love to hear about it, but back it up. Rule #2 buddy, rule #2.
What is Rule #2?
Rule #2 is why you've come here. It's what makes this site unique. Rule #2 states; if you talk about an amazing live music experience, it is your duty to back it up with a link to where it can be accessed (audio or video). Further, rule #2 states that no news item can be confirmed without being linked to a trusted source.
Where do I start?
All you need is a comment and a source. Simply upload your audeo or video or to your own server or to any number of
free hosting services, copy that link and bring it here. Then write a comment and share it with the rest of the community.
What kind of media should I link?
In most cases, we suggest you link to the origional web site where the media is hosted. This includes streaming audio websites such as archive.org. In the future we plan on providing streaming audio directly through the site, but until then do not link playlist or mp3 files. For media hosted using
free hosting services you can use the URL they provide you with.
Free hosting service? (How to)
Oh yea, you read that right... FREE file hosting. How so? Simple, just go to one of these fine web sites:
sendspace,
MediaFire, upload your audio or video and submit (upload). Once complete, you will be given a URL where can access your file. Copy (Ctrl+C) it and paste (Ctrl+V) it on
step 1 of our submission form and you're done! Now just leave your comments and post it for the community to enjoy.
Tag are relevant keywords or terms that are associated with or assigned to a piece of information within the Gigpedia database; an article, a video clip, a streaming audio playlist, etc. These "tags" describe their associated item, enabling keyword-based classification and searches of the database.
Tags should be chosen informally and personally by the author of the post to be used as part of our informally and user defined classification scheme. Tags should be one word descriptions of the content you are posting or posting about. Examples include: "jam", "solo", "acoustic", "special guest", etc.
Posts should generally have anywhere between one (1) and five (5) "tags" associated with them (if not more) to help our software dynamically classify your/our content. In turn, our software will provide links to other items within the Gigpedia database that share that keyword tag, or even to specified collections of tags. This allows you to quickly and easily search for the information you are looking for.
